As a collection and sorting center for textiles, shoes and technical equipment/furnishings, we are rooted in the Laupheim region and send relief supplies all over the world at the request of mostly church partner organizations in our own name and on behalf of third parties. We regularly supply social institutions such as hospitals, kindergartens, schools, retirement homes, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, women's shelters, etc., but we also work for our partners in the event of disasters.
The operator of Aktion Hoffnung Laupheim collection center is the non-profit association Arbeitsgemeinschaft Missions- und Entwicklungshilfe e.V.. The association was founded in 1974 by Catholics from the Biberach and Ehingen-Ulm deaneries who are committed to development aid on a voluntary basis. We have been working in Laupheim at Fockestraße 23/1 since 1989. As one of the few charitable collection organizations in Germany, we maintain our own sorting facility, which classifies the donations in a multi-stage process up to dispatch as relief supplies, for marketing in the retail trade or for reuse in recycling. More than 1,000 people currently help with this work on a voluntary basis.
Our actions are based on the Christian view of humanity. We are a member of the umbrella organization FairWertung e.V., an association of non-profit used clothing collectors in Germany with more than 130 partner organizations that collect and recycle used clothing according to binding standards. We also belong to the working group of Catholic organizations and associations of the Rottenburg-Stuttgart diocese (ako).
We support the projects of our partner organizations by sending relief supplies, subsidizing transport costs and/or providing financial contributions. The composition of our projects in 2023 can be seen in the charts opposite.
We run the Weltladen and second-hand clothes shop ‘Anziehungspunkt’ in Laupheim and the fashion boutique ‘trag's weiter’ in Biberach:
